Coming to you from the studios at the Illinois Rock and Roll Museum on Route 66. It's the Rock and Roll Chicago podcast Hey everybody, it's Ray the roadie and this is Hollywood Mike, how's it going Ray? I'm doing well. How are you? I seem a little whiny today Are we really gonna go there? No Maybe yes, maybe no.
I spent several hours at Cooper's Hawk Cooper's Hawk if you're listening, we're looking for sponsors That's right. We are looking for sponsors Cooper's Hawk do us a favor Yeah, this would be a great venue for for you guys. It would be because we attract a lot of winos.
Yeah Yeah, we actually do. Yes, we do. I mean we could say some pretty cool stuff like the episode is sponsored by Cooper's Hawk That's what we could say that if they were paying us.
That's right. We would say that that's right I mean, we might say it once a freebie. Sure.
That's to get him on time. Just one freebie. That's cool That's right.
Cool. So besides them who we got in the house a group of people that won't do freebies No, no, I don't think I mean cuz they're too good for that. We have coverlicious.
Hey coverlicious Man listen to the crowd. Yeah, they're crazy. They're going nuts.
You're all outside the window wave I didn't know the groupies are here. Yeah, that's awesome. So Why don't you introduce yourselves? Who's who here? I am Indy and I'm lead vocals or Coverlicious Yeah, you can you can grab holding a microphone when it's your turn to talk and okay I mean grab wherever you need to just get it right in there Yeah, it doesn't make it you don't get a lot of handling noise with these so just whatever you just slap it around a little Bit that's right.
That's right. My name is Dustin. I'm the bass player and backup vocals.
All right My name is Brad. I'm lead guitar Matt drums And D rhythm guitar and backing vocals. All righty.
Excellent. All righty. So where did this all start who put this together? That would be me.
Okay in 2014 decided I wanted to do a cover band that Basically did pop rock country and we kind of Take a little bit of a rock spin on everything you try not to play it too much like the original but original Enough to sound like the original if that makes any sense And what year was that again? 2014 2014. Okay, so you guys were kind of right in the middle of some of the transitional music that was coming around between Rap metal and pop metal and everything else. Yeah, what were your influences? Oh so many Madonna Van Halen Prince all over the board and anything and everything.
I listen to everything Yeah, I have to say you guys can't see her but that is an amazing jacket that you're wearing That's why I'm wearing my sunglasses. Yeah You can't give her a hug it's like that scene in Beetlejuice where all sudden spikes just come shooting out of every out everywhere It's protective, you know Excellent, so tell us about it. Who was the first person that you called and how did you put the whole thing together? I had a few other Members in the original coverlicious that were in another band that I was in My drummer and a Guitarist, I'm actually two guitarists and then we kind of transitioned into other members Dustin joined us shortly after we started and he's been with us ever since and then everybody else is kind of Transitioned in and out was we still have a couple members that used to be in the band that come in and fill in for us every now and then so we just kind of go with the flow and Try to keep it going.
Right, right So you're I guess you're technically considered to be one of the original members of the band then I am definitely yeah I would say I'm second in command. Maybe yes Okay, excellent. So I'm gonna ask the question.
I'm just gonna ask it right you get a call from a female vocalist It says I want to put together a band right and what were your first thoughts? Do you think okay? Yeah, we're gonna check this out or what? Well, I've never played with a female vocalist before so it was definitely gonna be a whole new world for me And I went to scout them out before I even did my first tryout with them and she was not having it At that night. She was just like I don't like them, you know And then I still showed up for my tryout and then before I couldn't go home. She said you're in So she was so you weren't you weren't having to meaning that the current players the current members of the band You weren't having it or you just looked at this guy and said, uh, no, I looked at him and I was like, no I don't like him.
I Don't want him in my band Wow, and he came to try out and he played, you know It's good. He was playing his bass and then he started to sing and I'm like, he's not leaving. Well in the band I mean, he's a handsome guy.
I mean, what was the problem? I Will partially was having a rough I was having a rough night with one of my other band members and I Hadn't originally talked to him about Possibly joining the band. It was my drummer who talked to him and I don't know. I was just having a bad night So he got the wrath of that which he normally gets the wrath of everything when I'm upset.
So yeah He's got broad shoulders then I guess Yeah, and the reason why I was asking that is because I mean, I'm a musician Ray works with a lot of bands as well He's also a guitar player and I think everybody would agree not just the folks sitting around the table here But whenever I have a bunch of musicians that are talking about, you know Bands that they've played in whenever they say well, you know We had a female front person and they roll their eyes and I've never understood why Because being in a band with a female singer to me just has opened It has opened up a world of music that normally wouldn't be available to you if you've got a guy like me with a with a baritone voice as Your lead singer because there's so many other things that you can do And I just think there's a great appeal when you have a female front person did a band so I was curious as to what your response and reaction was to that because Let's face it It's it's not something that that people look for all the time and you don't know It's a situation that you want to be in until you're actually in the situation. You're like, yeah, you know what? I don't think I'll ever be in a band again without a female singer. I Was at a point in my life where my bands were really Stagnant and we weren't having band practice or playing shows and I was like I got to find something to do and that's all Actually, how I met D was just looking for people to jam with on Craigslist.
Yeah Craigslist But never Craigslist was that like 10 years ago How do you find a how do you find a member on Craigslist? Because I mean first of all you look at Craigslist and you're it's like in today. Yeah, it's like in Braille, right? Dustin was probably cruising the men men seeking men section Yeah, no Craigslist it seems like the place that how do you find a band member in Craigslist because the ad would be something like come join My band. Oh, and by the way, you know, come kill me and my family What's that knows way before Facebook, oh, yeah, I mean, what how'd you find a band mate when you dance mix I Still an active member on band mix I am too, but I haven't checked my profile in probably years It's been probably eight years since I've done something like that and reverb nation I keep getting emails from reverb nation on my profile in a whole bit all the time I haven't gone to reverb nation and I check it about once a week.
You really asked Dustin about reverb nation He tells us in our position like every week and we're like, what the hell is reverb nation? Top-five in Naperville So so when they tell you like your top five I mean you guys don't do any original music to you or you just all you're all covers So they're actually tracking your I guess progress as to I haven't updated it in probably two or three years I put some new pictures on it not too long ago, but as far as music and stuff It hasn't been updated with we don't really get into the studio very much because we're too busy Having band practice and playing shows, you know, like it's just not really that accessible to us to record all the time. Yeah Yeah practice what's practice? I mean, I love practice You know Music, I just love it. All right, so tell us so tell us this Craigslist story Who created that was it me or you does I don't even remember But I went to your house and you're what 13 year old son like just jammed in your teeny tiny little room for like three Hours my office now used to be my head blast, but my son's also a really good drummer Okay, we have a drummer at the time say kid get on the drums.
I need to see what this guy's about What was bowling for soup is some of the songs that we played the first couple times, right? Yeah, sure Yes, I'm bowling for soup A band. Okay. Yeah.
Yeah, and I've been in the bands with him in the past I went about four five years not being in a band and I took a break They called me up today come play guitar and I'm like, okay. So is that the progression? Yeah I mean nothing really came out of it except for I met met him and jammed and knew he was a cool guy to play with you know, and It eventually turned into something but it wasn't like instantly I like I just met you and then I met you know Mindy and Rob from coverlicious and They actually had a band that I could join and play out with you know He was just a guy looking for more people to play with and then the opportunity came up where they needed another guitar player Yeah, I know this guy past bands. We had was called once a party time and we had It's a long complicated story I had a band called triangle green for like 10 some years and then we decided to expand and get another I'll get a lead singer and then he left and then we got Derek and Mindy to join us and it was just a big collage of musicians and party songs So you had triangle green? Yeah, I've actually heard of you guys.
Oh nice. So I I was actually in a band She's a long time ago I can't even imagine how long ago it was but the bass player wanted to name the band literal green Because he heard of the band triangle green and thought it was cool to have the word green into a band name Well, it's hilarious about that when I met Dustin he told me about triangle green the band I was in before a couple bands ago was called green trio green trio. Yeah So so who came next to that? I mean, I guess what was the progression it was kind of At the same time Matt and Brad So I contacted Dustin and we started jamming in kind of a different band.
It's called mad love okay, and Matt was the drummer and then Coverlicious kind of turned over and we ended up in that band. Okay. All right this band, right? Right and at that point you guys you'd already been playing out as coverlicious with other players So you already had a set list ready to go in the whole bit? Yeah, when you met all these guys that you say, okay, we're gonna keep these songs, but then I want to play a bunch of new stuff and Tell us about that first time that the five of you five of you have five of you.
Yeah All got together. Tell us about that very first one. I got use one.
I use one eye. Okay, there we go But now I only see three I Did you guys give me a set list two weeks prior to the first show I played with you Yes Well, you know what Matt actually filled in for us Correct once or twice once and I looked at him and I said Matt if you ever want to be in coverlicious you got the job So well, it kind of are you still designing man? Yeah He's on the bubble. No, that was that was That place a blue chip and I had to learn the show.
That was your first gig with them at blue chip. I've seen a Religious, I had to learn the show like in two weeks maybe and let's say let's say three days to make the story better Okay 24 hours I had to learn the show, right? Anyways, yeah, it was it was a good show and I think I stepped up and and yeah, it was fun So that's a that's one heck of a venue to play your first Gig with a new band. Yeah, we've played there a few times Do you know the only thing that sucks about that place is the load in but the stage in the play is actually a lot Of fun.
Yeah, I didn't like hauling my gear, you know But I didn't like the rules Yeah, the rules in the whole they put me behind a cage, you know, yeah, yeah and everything is though I play there. I play there a couple times before with another group. So, okay, but but but yeah, it was it was good I mean, oh they you know honesty They when Dustin came to me and say we got show we need, you know drummer and I was like, oh man I don't think I can do it, you know with time commitment I said, I'll tell you what you give me the set list You let me pick from you know, and then that that's how we made it work, you know, right? So, yeah, right excellent, and you've kind of been with them a little bit longer Matt technically played one show more than I got you.
Okay. Okay. Yeah, it was kind of that transition was going on and I just All about this Right, well, I'd love to hear people play in the studio and I think people listening to the podcast love it as well You guys are a cover band, but that's okay because what you're gonna do is, you know We don't own any of the rights to the music that we play on the show No, it's only used to promote the bands that we interview That's that's all it is and you guys are gonna play your own interpretation of it, but I would love to hear You guys kind of I guess you're doing an acoustic version of give us your favorite song What's the song you really you guys really like to play? Well, I don't think we're prepared to play our favorite version of anything acoustically but we did that's the challenge Can get away with yeah, yeah, we got one that's been popping pretty lately like it's a newer one Okay, so we're gonna do that one.
I think I think people will recognize it Yeah, I hope you've planned like three right because you're not just playing one All right. Let's hear it. What is it? Flowers by Miley Cyrus flowers by Miley Cyrus Wow, okay Female anthem song.
Yeah The guys are all like, oh, it's so slow. But the girls are all in the crowd just like yeah Singing it girls love Miley Cyrus. They absolutely do.
So this is great They've got an acoustic bass to acoustic guitar players I guess our drummers gonna tap his foot and kind of do this on the table, right? I'll look at this. He's got a little cigar shaped shaker over Bring a lot of stuff. Yeah, I said screw that cuz every gig I'm showing up three hours ahead of time All my stuff.
I said I'm bringing a damn shaker and tambourines. That's right. And I'm showing up right on time Yes, and he goes I'm gonna be the lead singer for once This is Matt's Matt's jam.
All right, take it away We were good I Yeah You I Don't follow Miley Cyrus, I don't think I've ever heard that song before that was that's pretty a snappy though I kind of like that. Yeah. Yeah, it's new ish.
Yeah. Yeah, is it? I Wouldn't know but that was good Neither until she told me to listen to it Yeah, I can't imagine you wake up in the morning and you're like, oh I gotta hear that new Miley Cyrus cut Yeah, I wonder if Miley came out when I think today while I was sleeping. Yeah, no kid Okay, I gotta say I was most impressed with the drums that were playing over there.
What the heck? Where was the tambourine coming from? He's got he's got tambours in his pants, that's right. That's right. This isn't the family show.
Yeah No, that was excellent, that was excellent. I enjoyed that Thanks. Yeah, and the ovation guitar over there.
That's a cool color blue on the guitar. He likes blue Yeah, this is the only blue guitar. I'll own.
Yeah, I think about blue guitars I don't like them, but this one for some reason it works. Yeah sounds good. Yeah, please.
Well, absolutely Yeah, great. So when is uh, so when's your next show coming up? Don't give us your don't give us the show that's coming up like tomorrow or Friday But give us a show that's coming up in a couple of weeks After June 6th, yeah Saturday June 10th, we're playing at Fireman Ted's in Julia. Oh, no kidding.
That's right over here Yeah. Yeah. Have you guys ever played there before? Yeah.
Yeah, that's a fun place. It is a fun place Yeah, I played there a few times They they uh, you know, they've got some pretty cool bands that show up there and the owners of that place are really cool We're just dummy huge music fans. So that's a that's a cool place And it's it's nice for me since I live in Shorewood.
So Usually if we're playing far away, my friends are like, yeah, you know, so you're local far. Yeah Okay, are the rest of you around in this area as well? No. No, you guys are all over the place I'm in Aurora.
Oh, that's my bill. That's not too far Charles. Okay Oh, well, you're the one that's you're the one that's the farthest away But but but I mean I consider it had to be fairly local because lately we've been having people from Crystal Lake and You know a green Bay Green Bay.
Yeah, we had a guy come all the way from Green Bay. Yeah Yeah, I mean you called meltdown Yeah two brothers and another and a third guy and the one brother lives in Green Bay and he made the trip down here just for The interview and I said are you going home tonight? He said, yep So what distinguishes you guys from other cover bands that are out there well, I Would say we're very eclectic. We have a wide variety of music that we play.
We're not just strictly 90s 80s, you know We're all over the board. We're playing, you know, pop rock country Guy songs girl songs. It doesn't matter.
You know, we're just good. Yeah, we do some disco we do You at all you do some guy songs. Do any you guys sing lead on some songs or yes And I will do Derek and I yeah Wow what so well, so what do you give me something typical that you would uh, well, I think my most popular song would be a Country girl, even though I'm not a fan of country music.
I seem to do it. All right, so right They let me keep going. So right and what's yours? I'm the 90s alternative guy of the group.
Yeah, geez with the spiked hair and the flannel shirt over there I would have never guessed that never I've seen all the 90s songs for most probably does picks up a few 90s. I mean I do what I can You know, I got some 80s stuff. Yeah, he's good time there.
All right, so it's always fun to hear Everybody's influences to see because I mean you can cover a song, right? But if you're a good cover band in my opinion, it always you always tend to make it a little bit your own Right. Oh, yeah Yeah, I don't I don't I don't like going to see a cover band and it sounds exactly like the radio recording You know, I you know, some people love that, you know, there's definitely a market for that There's some people that are making a lot of money doing that and there's a lot of fans that go to see that But I like to go and see a cover band that makes the song there's so so I mean, I guess how do you help? How do you do that amongst yourselves? Is it because of your influences? Does it just happen that way? I mean, I've always been a rocker since I was a little kid. So it's yeah just in my nature to want to just make it Faster harder.
Yeah, you know, so you were just dying to do that Miley Cyrus song you could Right, right and drummers tend to have their own flavor to it. So what were your influences? Oh My influences are all over the board. Yeah Zeppelin, you know, I mean, it's very like Zeppelin police Benfolds five Dave Matthews band.
Okay all over the board kind of a thing So, right, but but you know, I like putting my own spin on things, you know But I want to be true to the song Suze I don't want to just like puke and chops all over the place and right, you know what I mean? Right, right, right. Oh, but so I think that how I think we all kind of do that Like we try to be be fair and true to the song But put a spin on it so that it's enjoyable not only for us but for the people listening as well, right? So excellent excellent. So how do you guys my guitar players? How do you guys feel about that term virtuoso? That's a term that gets thrown around You know about a thousand times, you know, you know, he's a guitar virtuoso.
What do you feel about that term? Do you consider yourself a virtuoso? Can you play anything or do you guys have a specific style? I'll give anything good couch, right? Everything I kind of like the diversity of what we're doing actually, you know as far as virtuoso. No Everything I just kind of like to play We have people ask us what we play Everything. Okay.
Yeah, if you have a crowd of people and that crowd this girl likes country that guy likes hard rock I mean then you got the 70s disco, you know, we cover it all I've always been a rocker myself and when we started playing some of these I'm like really I gotta learn that song, you know Start playing it. It's actually enjoyable, you know, I mean just playing what I love, right? so when you play that a Huge variety of music like that. How do you maintain the continuity? How do you how do you make it so that when somebody hears you they're like, yeah, that's coverlicious playing that song Well, that'd be many Wow, I Don't even know how to answer that I just do things my way and you know You guys use a set lister, oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah. Okay changes every except, you know when I'm like, why can't we just wing it? Yeah, yeah, I'm like the anti wing guy, you know, yeah, she says that my brain explodes No, but going back to your question. I mean, I think it's it's you have to earn the trust of the audience, right? Sure, so you can like throw down some stuff that's popular.
It gets people moving and so forth And then you kind of suck them in and then you can play something That's maybe either a different spin on a song or maybe a song that that you know That demographic you're playing to isn't used to hearing but if you earn their trust and kind of you know Then then you can get away with that stuff, right? How about doing another song and sucking us in? That means two things Not a family show I was thinking about that about your question and it's like sometimes when we're starting to play a song you see people's like Expressions and they're like wait this chick's gonna sing that I Don't think so. And then you know when I can pull it off Don't don't you love that my speaking voice is much deeper than my singing voice and whenever we start a song I look on the ground. I see I see the same thing like yeah, there's no way you're gonna do that And yeah, you know, I don't hit the high notes all the time.
I mean, I'm human This is you know, this is a muscle, right? But when I do it and they're like, oh you hit it, yeah, that's right. What do you think? I'm new here I can name that song in two notes I Say Oh I Like the abbreviated versions of the songs Yeah, what's hilarious about those these guys got together last night and I can't get together so I have no idea when the songs are gonna Well, they can't end with you know without you Come on stand up for yourself I pretend you knew what was happening. Yeah, that's right.
We didn't spring your favorite song. I You know, I I asked the same question when we do these podcasts all the time because I want to keep it nice and positive And for some reason I have a feeling this is gonna be a good answer. So I'm gonna switch it around I usually ask bands tell us about your favorite gig, but instead of asking you about your favorite gig I want to hear a story about a gig that you guys played where all of you at one point were like, you know Screw this I'm done with this.
I'm done. Well, don't tell me about a gig. They just went totally horrible.
He's looking at he's giving The sign like no, we're not talking about that. We're not talking about You don't have to name the venue and then and I've got a there's a reason why I'm asking that So I'd love to hear that story and then I have a follow-up to that which is gonna turn the whole thing around to a Positive. I mean, I can't even think of a bad gig off the top of my head I mean, they're all pretty awesome, right? You've got this dude over here going like this giving you the no, we're not talking about that and you can't think of one song Little story, I wish we had a camera for stuff like that cuz you can't hide I Have never bailed on a gig before right? Okay Except for once Oh So I showed up to this gig I won't be named names or anything like that and little I guess I found out eventually that it was a What do you say couples that like to swing swing Not the swing in the gig So I bailed on that but I just remember showing up and looking at him See now I was being anonymous about the whole thing it could have been with a different group and you had to So that's that that is a little that is a little bit of a different situation Because I was actually putting into a situation I was with a band and we showed up for a gig and it was a nudist colony Oh, yeah, and they and they told us, you know, you know clothes are optional for everybody including the band and it's like wow How do you do this? How'd you guys roll with that? Did anybody did anybody on on robe? I usually wear my guitar pretty low Put it that way Actually, I fretted the chords, but you know We all would love the opportunity to play like flea With a sock on it.
Yeah. Oh, yeah No, but but what about a gig where it's like, okay, this just isn't going right and you know Everybody was just kind of like we're irritated on the stage whether it's I'm Irritated with this guy and this guy's irritated with this guy and she's not singing right in the whole bit Do you ever have a never happens? No, just kidding No, there's there have been times where Mindy's been irritated, but I've never decided that I was gonna bail Everybody has their bad nights including me, of course probably several I try but you know sometimes especially being a vocalist, you know, I always tell these guys, you know You guys can get new strings, you know new sticks new Heads for your drums skins, whatever. I got I got what I got So, you know, it just is what it is.
And if it's not cooperating, it's it's pretty frustrating, right? The reason why I'm asking that is because I host quite a few open jams and and I've seen a lot of bands form And a lot of bands fall apart and you know, I I love seeing when I mean There's there's young kids nowadays that are actually getting back into playing in bands. They're trying to put bands together There's a there's a great band that we interviewed on the podcast a couple of months ago called don't matter to me They're they were they're all you know, they were all high school students that that met and then they all graduate from high school They're all like one year out of high school except for the lead singer Who's maybe a few years out of high school, but they're they're young and they're they're playing everywhere They're fantastic. Yeah, well the bass player and the lead singer our brother and sister, okay, right? But they're just a fantastic band.
They are I guess An unusual or a rare story when you're talking about young people and I'm all about enforcing live music, you know young young kids need to get back to playing instruments again and forming bands and hanging out in a basement or hanging out in a Garage and doing that the way we did it when we were all growing up I'm assuming we're all about the same age, but the problem that I'm hearing is yeah We were together for about three months and then you know This this guy couldn't make it to a show because you know his car wouldn't start so we kicked him out of the band Really you kicked him out of it, you know, so I'm all about you know, I was thinking how do we get? How do we tell the you know? What's some advice we give to younger people that are trying to put a band together and helping them keep the band together for more Than three months, you know, you've got a hundred young musicians standing in front of you and you've got you've got two minutes To give them a piece of advice. What is that advice? I would say being in a band is like having a second family like you don't just bail on your family You you work it out. You you try to keep the lines of communication open You try to be as forgiving as you can and just work hard and do your part Have fun and have fun.
Yeah. Yeah work hard. Yeah.
Yeah work hard Be understanding for everyone's life problems, you know, yeah, absolutely huge one today's day and age that's that is absolutely huge Yeah, I always use the analogy like being in a band is like being married to four other people. Yeah So sometimes it's awesome. Sometimes it's pretty shitty, right? But you kind of just you know, and sometimes yeah So you just kind of stick with it and you got to just be in there for the long haul and not let small things Bother you right, you know and enjoy the good times right sometimes bad times are very short.
Anyways, you know, yeah, that's exactly right Yeah, we have so much fun doing this together, you know, it's it's not hard to not have fun Yeah, and if you keep your band together for more than three months, you might appear on the rock and roll Chicago Yeah, yeah. Yeah, absolutely, you know and you know The younger generation sounds that we call them the generation of tolerance, but when I see them putting together new bands, they're not tolerant they're They all kind of take on an attitude like they think the rock stars from the very beginning and stop thinking that you're rock stars if you're if you're playing in a if you're playing in a I Just heard of it releasing. I can't believe this is still a thing.
There's a Creed tribute band around right and They all think they're the guys in Creed, you know, it's like come on, man You're just getting together for a goof and playing some music. So be tolerant of one another's. Oh, yeah Creed didn't he have some serious read issues like ten years ago.
Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I think he did Yeah, I wish I could pretend to be mark.
Yeah. Oh, geez, you know, yeah He's yeah, he's a pretty good guitar player You know what when he was with when when Mark Tremonti was with Creed I was like, oh I saw him. I can't remember where it was that I saw him But he just came out and we used that term virtuoso a little bit earlier.
Wow. I was super impressed really good Yeah, yeah Oh, yeah, absolutely. Yeah.
Yeah, he was the well he did he did the singing he he was the guy that recorded the soundtrack Yeah, yeah, and then and he was the guy at the end when they pulled him up on stage to take over Thor. Yeah Yeah, yeah, absolutely Yeah, he's gonna do he's got it. He's Always say our shows because when I played with these guys and once party time Yeah, and did play with them for what four years, but sometime during the show I always say I grew up with the posters of these guys on my wall And I'm one of them because I literally have our set lists and the poster of our past shows on my office wall Oh, that's great.
So yeah Why it's the truth, yeah, pretty cool. We've all got our local heroes that that's the great thing you know in we we talk about this on this podcast all the time the great thing about being in the Chicago area as a musician is the sense of family I mean it really is I mean look at us we we just met today and you played with forget Hannah a band that I Was in for he's like seven years or so. I mean, it's it's a small small world small world.
It's a it's it's a it's a You know the sense of family in this area, yeah, it's pretty spectacular. So that's great. Yeah, that's great So what's next for you guys? I mean you guys you guys trying to do more like outdoor festivals and things like that.
Are you looking for club gigs? What's your forte? We would love to do outdoor festivals. We would I mean club gigs are always great Private parties we do yeah, they have a lot of people contacting us about private parties. So that's great Just stay busy have fun.
Yeah. Yeah, keep it rolling next year. We'll be celebrating our 10-year anniversary So, oh, excellent.
We're gonna have a big 10-year anniversary bash. I think yeah, like the whole year is just gonna be a We're just gonna have a big party the whole year. No, no, that's good.
That's that's always that's always a milestone This is Cadillac grooves 10-year anniversary this year, too. So I know we have a gig coming up I know we have a gig for that day to us. I don't know where that we play so much I don't know.
He tells me he tells me when my gigs Because I never remember I look like on Thursday and find oh we have a gig tomorrow Yeah, so I always hate when people ask you so what do you play? It's like Yeah, you know, I can't think you know those those songs with the chords in the words Trust me, you'll know it. Yeah And if you don't we play a wide variety, so just wait, it's like the Chicago weather. Wait a minute You'll like the next song we promise.
So where did the name come from? Okay, that was me They like puns, yes, yes, well, so, you know when you're playing in a cover band and you're trying to incorporate the word cover and There are basically no more names Available and I was trying to you know, denote that it was female fronted So I'm thinking ooh, you know like coverlicious. That's so delicious, you know, like No, definitely, you know, she's hot and she knows it But yeah, I just was like something just you know, I suggested it to one of my friends and He was like, yeah, that's pretty cool. I like that Yeah, yeah, you guys are on Facebook because I know I've seen you on Facebook and I've actually received some of your invites on Facebook Where else can people find you social talk about social media Instagram or on Instagram? Okay tick-tock You guys have any you have videos on tick-tock just a couple I wouldn't know I've never been there It's a couple videos I'm usually balking it, you know people like get that camera out of my face, you know Is she a diva guys I'm a nerd.
Yeah. Yeah, I'm a nerd. I'm just a nerd, you know, and I I think that works the best, you know The musicians they say I'm just a nerd.
Those are those and those are my favorite musicians Yeah, so we all do our part yeah, yeah, it's a beautiful thing you have multiple members and each one of them Contributes right instead of having one or two members putting all their life into a band to try to get off the ground so to speak Right. I joined this band, you know, we got a guy that makes us flyers Got Mindy. She does a lot Dustin you book gigs many books gigs Matt was booking gigs like we're all over the place Yeah, I mean I run the website and do the Instagram and yeah, Matt brings the sound Our lights Yeah, you guys Do your own you do your own sound in the whole bit as well.
We can yeah. Yeah. Yeah We have full production that we can bring.
Okay, that's good That's a that's a big selling point actually because not a lot of bands can do that So yeah, and you guys bring a pretty good production with you as well. So, you know, I mean you do a good job of it So that's pretty good. Yeah, good job Matt.
Yeah, absolutely The 32nd elevator pitch you guys were in an elevator and somebody walks in and says So you guys look like you're in a rock band. I mean cuz you guys do look like you're in a rock band Yeah, we're playing in town, you know tomorrow night What do you say to that person again was come to the show? We're playing fun party rock music that gets people singing and moving and we got a good-looking thing singer and We play fun songs That's about all I can say like we're fun we look good we play good and she's hot so okay She is yeah, I mean that yeah, that's definitely a draw For sure. All right.
Very good. Well, that's coverlicious. That's coverlicious.
How about taking us out with one more song? Yeah, that'd be great. Okay Oh Oh I I I just have to say that song goes out to our buddy Scotty Scotty was a really close friend of ours band member in one of our other bands and he passed away a couple years ago and We always send that song out to him. Yeah cancer sucks.
